Email Marketing Layouts

Email marketing is a concept that has really caught on in the recent past. The premise behind email marketing is that you look for users interested in what you are selling, and then get them to give you their address. You can then use these addresses to send them information periodically about the things that you sell, or about changes that occurring in your site. Of course, the users have to agree to receive these updates (known as newsletters) so that your mail isn't marked as spam.

The focus of the email marketing program is the newsletter. This is the forum for which you are given the opportunity to engage with the potential client, and try to convince him to buy your products. This means that you must be very good at creating a newsletter that will do this efficiently.

Email marketing layouts: The bane of most marketers

One thing that you have to pay special attention to is the email marketing layouts. This basically refers to the way that you organize the information on your newsletters. Good email marketing layouts have several things that they have to achieve:

•     Inspire confidence towards the seller
•     Engage the user’s interest
•     Make all the information available without taking up too much space

These three basic aims can be achieved by very simple methods of designing the layout of your newsletters. Though you may think that it’s only the information in the layout that’s important, you have to consider the fact that people are superficial and will judge your email in just one glance. This means you only have that one glance to make the reader interested in what you have to say, and this can only be achieved by attractive design.

Things to consider when designing your newsletter layout

In order to make your email marketing layouts achieve the above aims, there are several aspects of the emails that you need to take care of. Some of the most important ones are enumerated below, though there are several others that aren’t included. Basically to determine what layout looks best, try to put yourself in the position of the reader, and then try to figure out what you would want. Some things to consider are:

  • Graphics: adding images to the newsletter is a good way of spicing it up. Text that is too wordy puts off people as it gives the impression that one has to read a lot. In order to avoid this, try and use colorful images in your newsletter. However, rules of email marketing layouts dictate that you should moderate this as well. You shouldn’t use a lot of images as it may end up looking too tacky. Try to minimize the size of the images as well, as not everyone has a T1 connection to download large images.

  • Text: the wording of your newsletter should also be taken into consideration. Always use font and color that is legible. You shouldn’t use a very wordy article to make your newsletter; having too much to read will put off most people. Also, use catchy titles for your newsletters as well.

These are just a few of the things you should consider when doing email marketing layouts, but they are very important.
