Email Marketing

Email Marketing

Email marketing is one of the best ways to establish a good foothold for your online business. This unique form of 'conversational advertising' is also very personal and straightforward. It's not awkward to run or difficult to understand like many other forms of advertising such as CPC and PPC. Though simple to understand, however, it is still a vast subject. To master it, you must pay close attention to detail.

As the name implies, email marketing entails giving out product or service promotions via email. Since emailing is fast, expedient and cost-effective, many people are drawn by the allure of making easy money through email marketing.

Email marketing has two functions: to give information and to sell a product. It's easy to mistakenly think that the former would be of no business value. This is because information can be thought of as having no fiscal value. Information, however, is valuable in a different way, and most of the time that value doesn't directly convert to money. The good thing with information is that people warmly welcome it. Learning something new is worth their time, which makes reading the email worth it.

Selling a product, on the other hand, is all about advertising. The focus of advertising isn't to relay information or to teach. Instead, the goal of advertising is to get a customer to buy the product. If there is to be any information at all in an advertisement, it would be about the specific benefits of the product.

The best of both worlds

Email marketing is best done if these two concepts are combined. First of all, you have to be informational so as to entice the reader with the potential value of your email. At the very least, if the email has rich and informative content, the prospective customer would be able to tolerate the various sales pitches at the end of the email. If anything, they would be interested in the subject it it is relevant to them. Do this right once and the person will be more inclined to read more emails from you.

If done well, email marketing pays off big time. The purpose of having informative content is to draw the reader to your sales talk. Hard sales are the things of the past. Today, a more effective way is to build up on the value of interest. If the reader becomes interested, it's easy to talk them about buying different products.

An effective email marketing strategy

One of the most effective strategies in email marketing relies heavily on the content of articles and the relevance of the affiliate. An affiliate is the owner of the product you are selling. It's important to find interesting subjects and then find an affiliate for such subjects. At every turn, emphasize the connection between the product and the information being given. Don't tell people why they should buy something; tell them why it's relevant to their lives. This way, you increase the chances of getting higher conversion rates from email marketing.
